Hans J. Wegner designed CH445,"The Wing Chair", in 1960. The chair was produced for only a short period in the 1960s. Carl Hansen & Son relaunched the chair in 2006 — after which it immediately won several international design awards.  CH445 is an exceptionally comfortable chair that provides excellent support for the back, shoulders, neck and head. The upholstered chair is built on a solid beech frame; its legs are hand-finished silver plate.

The accompanying footrest, CH446, uses the same construction principles and materials. These limited anniversary editions are upholstered in an exclusive, 100% aniline leather. Butter-soft and breathable, the leather is through-dyed and not surface treated, so all natural markings are visible. Only 5% of all hides are suitable for use in this grade of leather. Just 100 pairs of these special editions will be made, ever. Attached under each chair and footrest is a sterling silver plate with special edition number.
